World We Imagine Part 1

In the world I imagine, fashion is used to empower people and promote individual expression and creativity. I am in awe of the world of fashion that exists today, but access to that world is very limited and dependent on financial standing. There are so many 'dupes' for high fashion items and aesthetics, but I don't think we should need to dupe $2000+ items to feel fashionable. And while I, myself, respect high fashion designers and would love to own their designs, there are plenty of smaller brands and designers that produce beautiful and unique items and deserve credit. I also think flipping/upcycling items [especially if they're thrifter] deserves more recognition. These are great ways to take an item that many people have and make it your own, better express your own personal style, and exercise creativity.

I've considered getting into personal shopping/styling to help people find their individual styles and feel more confident in their clothes. That's something that's very important to me and it's taken me quite some time to do that for myself. I really want to put my passion for and knowledge about fashion to good use and help empower others in the same ways I've used them to empower myself.

  1. I thought you made some great points regarding high fashion. Is there a particular group of people that you want to help empower with your skills? I think your idea can also help a lot of small businesses.

  2. It's amazing that you want to use your passion to make an impact. I believe it's important to find our own sense of style, but this can be difficult especially when our style is unique. Especially with kids, they can get made fun of because of their clothes (like in The Blue Sweater), how do you think you can help address this? How specifically will you use fashion to empower others?

  3. Hey Peri, I think that this is an amazing way to help others with something that you feel comfortable and proficiency at. Actually, my girlfriend sees a lot of videos on this subject right now mainly following the pandemic and the zoom environment, and thought about how people can be helped to find a specific dress style that will compliment them when the camera is on during meetings, lectures, etc. I would like to hear more on ways that you think can empower and compliment others.
