Hello everyone!
I've been traveling a bit this summer and this weekend I'm adding two more stops that I'm really excited about! On Friday, I'm heading to Boston to pick up my boyfriend from the airport and then we're driving out to Holyoke which is in western Mass for a wedding! The wedding has been moved a few times so I'm so excited for it to finally be happening. It's my mom's best friend's daughter who's getting married so a good portion of the guest list will be people my mom and her best friend grew up with. And they're all a riot.
We're not very close with my extended family for a variety of reasons. We see my grandparents every now and then but aside from them, we haven't seen any members of my extended family since I was about 16. This seems like a huge topic change from the first little blurb about the wedding, but what I'm getting at is that my mom's best friend and her family are who I consider my chosen extended family. They've always been great to my mom, which is more than I can say the same for her actual siblings. And they've been so welcoming and loving to my dad and I. I'm really excited to see them all again because it's been a while due to COVID -- especially because a lot of them work in healthcare. I'm also excited because they're meeting my boyfriend for the first time and I've told him that this is basically like him meeting my extended family.
And on the topic of meeting extending family! After the wedding we're driving up to New Hampshire to see his extended family which I'm nervous but excited for. His family has a lake house on Lake Winnipesaukee and every summer they invite the whole extended family at once for a week which I've been told is a lot of fun. I've been to the lake house before but only in the winter, so I'm excited to get to do all of the summery lake things this time around.
So a lot going on over the next week and a half but it'll be lots of fun!
It's so great to read about your travel plans for the next weeks. I hope you have fun seeing your extended family again and meeting your boyfriend's family. As more people are getting vaccinated, I hope we can all travel more before school starts in the Fall. Stay safe in your trips!
ReplyDeleteSounds fun and stay safe! I agree with your point on extended families. Sometimes the people that care about us the most aren't even blood related. Time sure does go by fast. I feel like I haven't properly seen anyone in ages.

DeleteI love travelling! I have only been to a few US states and spend most of it in other countries. The US seems to have a lot to offer that I am missing out on. I hope that you have a wonderful time with your family even if they are the most stressful.
ReplyDeleteYou got some exciting trips planned. I have some family friends too who I pretty much consider family. I am sure it will be nice to see them again. Have a great time!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds so fun! I'm jealous, I haven't seen my extended family in a while either but I hope I can soon. A lot of them are on the east coast as well so the distance is tough. Glad you are getting to see yours, and tell them thanks so much for all the hard work they've been doing to fight COVID!
ReplyDeleteYour excitement about all of the things you'll be doing really comes through in your writing. I hope you have a great time at the wedding and enjoy visiting with your family!
ReplyDeleteMeeting the bf's/gf's extended family can be very exciting and stressing at the same time, but I am sure you both will have a lot of fun and everything will work out. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI love weddings and road trips. I hope you have a great time with your boyfriend's extended family!
