This post is fashionably late (which I'm mad at myself for) but I attribute that to my recent and abrupt travel mixed with settling back into normal life at home and transitioning back to synchronous classes. I just got back home this weekend so I was a bit all over the place up until class on Monday. I would elaborate on my recent and abrupt travel except it was for a fairly personal matter and I'm not too sure I want to get into it on a public forum. Anyway! It's really good to be back home. I love Cape Cod with my whole heart and it's so pretty in the summer so things have been very happy since I've been back. I went to my first summer baseball game on Monday after class which was so much fun. Every summer, the Cape hosts arguably the best collegiate summer baseball league for college players hoping to get drafted in coming years. I interned for our local team in the summer of 2019 and am now a very loyal fan. It was so nice to be back since we didn't have a season last year.

The only thing that's not super fun about being home right now is that all three of my grandparents are here as of yesterday. They're lovely but require a lot of energy and trying to balance spending time with them, doing work for class, and having quiet time to myself is already pretty tricky. I'm currently hiding out so I can zoom into class in peace. Maybe 'hiding out' is the wrong choice of words. Again, lovely people but I have things that I need to get done.

Something I'm looking forward to that's coming up pretty soon is the Vogue Forces of Fashion event in early July. It's a two-day virtual industry speaker and networking event with various fashion designers, executives, and editors. I splurged on a VIP ticket so I can attend the roundtable with the Met Costume Institute's curator in charge, Andrew Bolton, and designers Vera Wang and Prabal Gurung on the upcoming Met exhibit 'In America: A Lexicon of Fashion'. I am incredibly excited for the whole event but that roundtable in particular. The annual Met Costume Exhibition and Gala is an iconic facet of the modern fashion industry and I'm really excited about this particular topic/theme.

  1. Hey Peri! I love your conversational style of writing because it really keeps me engaged! Knowing you, this all seems super exciting and I'm excited to see what you have to say after the Vogue event.

  2. We used to go to the Falmouth Commodores games -- I like my black baseball cap with a big "F" on it. Which team did you intern for? And, what IS the theme for the Met Gala this year? Sorry about the grandparents, but speaking AS a grandparent whose grandchildren are about to move from four blocks away to four STATES away, I gotta say, I miss them as I'm sure your GPs miss you! And, whereas, I don't look forward to having to visit them in Texas, you can't beat the Cape as a destination.
